Vmware vbk restoring: Sparse file: Failed to set zero data in file

Initial state

- Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition as VMWare workstation (on Linux) - vmb,vbk,vib files on NTFS partition in this VM - Restoring to the exFat partition (USB Stick) mounted as Disk to the VMware VM

Result

Failed to restore file: srv-01-flat.vmdk Error: Incorrect function.
Sparse file: Failed to set zero data in file
Unable to receive file.
Exception from server: Shared memory connection was closed.

Solution

Restoring to the the same NTFS partition
